The American Vacuum Society is a community of scientists, engineers and manufacturers, which promotes international research in the areas of surface, vacuum, and thin film science and technologies.   Their new Financial District office contains space for administrative staff, publication distribution and group events.  To address the relatively small footprint, the design creates flexible work and meeting areas which can be combined as needed, using layers of translucency to screen public and private areas and bring daylight further into the space.  As an associate at Bromley Caldari Architects.
